Sticky Notes, Big Dreams: Perfectly Me Counselors Share Their Hopes for Our Heroes

Every year at this time, Perfectly Me staff get together right before the start of summer camp for a staff dinner to kick off the summer camp season. This year, we did something special — we each took a sticky note and wrote down our hopes and dreams for the kids in our care.

We placed the sticky notes on a wall and read aloud what we wished for our campers. What we created was a wall filled with heart, intention, and purpose. These weren’t just casual wishes—they were promises. Promises to bring joy, to build confidence, to create belonging. Promises to be role models, safe spaces, and cheerleaders. Promises to help our campers grow into the heroes we already know they are.

Sharing Our Hopes For Our Heroes

To let our campers know that we have big dreams for them, we’ve printed out postcards for each child with a selection of hopes that they can take with them. Each camper will get a copy of the postcard once they arrive at camp.

Here are just a few of the beautiful hopes our counselors shared:

  • "I hope every camper this summer gains the confidence and knowledge that they can do hard things, and to rely on their HeroValues when they encounter challenges."

  • "I want the campers to have fun while strengthening their HeroValues!"

  • "I hope the kids will make new friends and learn something NEW!"

  • "I hope that the campers have an amazing summer at camp and that they always remember to be kind."

  • "Gain self-confidence. Know they can do 'hard' things."

  • "My hope is that the kids will just have fun and be themselves! Plus make friends :)"

  • "I hope for them to understand how their actions can affect others, and they should always choose kindness."

  • "I hope to become a safe space for kids to express themselves."

  • "My hope is that my SuperHero kids will learn something from me that they can use in their present lives."

As we gear up for another unforgettable summer, these notes serve as our compass. They remind us why we do this work. And they remind our campers that behind every activity, every game, and every laugh, there is a team of caring adults cheering them on, helping them shine, and believing in their power to become the best version of themselves.

Here’s to a summer of more than just fun—and to the sticky notes that hold our biggest dreams.
