Building Community Through Connection, Not Service Hours
At Perfectly Me, community connection is not about logging hours or completing a requirement. It’s about helping children understand that they are part of something bigger than themselves and that their actions matter.
Rather than treating service as an assignment, we create opportunities for kids to build real relationships with their neighbors, community partners, and one another. These experiences help children see community as something they belong to, not something they are told to do.

Why Connection Matters More Than Service Hours
Community connection at Perfectly Me is hands-on, kid-centered, and rooted in shared experience. Children don’t just help, they participate, notice, and contribute in meaningful ways.
Examples include:
-
Kid-led neighborhood projects, where children identify a need, like caring for a local park, and work together to improve it
-
Partnerships with local organizations, where children collaborate with community members rather than working in isolation
-
Group efforts that involve families, helping community connection extend beyond camp into home life
In each experience, children are encouraged to ask questions, work together, and reflect on how their choices affect others.

A Note From Our Founder, Raquel

At Perfectly Me, the goal is not to raise children who complete service requirements. It’s to support children in becoming people who naturally think about others, notice their surroundings, and feel responsible for the communities they belong to.
Over time, these experiences shape how children see themselves. Kindness becomes something they do without being asked. Responsibility becomes part of how they show up.
Community becomes a shared space they care about, not an obligation to fulfill.
